Addis Ababa January 10/2018 A nationwide conference that publicizes the activities carried out in connection with the establishment of Adwa Pan African University and establishes the way forward will be held from January 15-16, 2018.
Speaking at a press conference held today, Adwa Pan African University Steering Committee Chairperson Bitew Belay said the conference will discuss about the solidarity of the Ethiopian people and their commitment to preserve the historic effort in protecting the country.
The contribution of each citizen towards the establishment of Adwa Pan African University will also be discussed in the conference, he added.
Steering Committee member, Associate Professor Ayele Bekerie said on his part the conference will discuss national unity and the solidarity in fighting against colonialism.
Adwa Pan African University will serve as a cultural centre for study about Africans, he added.
The university will begin work by offering courses in social sciences, humanity and ICT when it becomes operational after two years, Associate Professor Ayele stated.
This initiative to establish the university came from concerned Ethiopians and was endorsed by African leaders, it was learned.
According to Associate Professor Ayele, the university will also be an institute which would focus on researches related to Africans' interests.
The foundation for Adwa Pan African University was laid by Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and President Yoweri Museveni on April 24, 2017 at Adwa town.
