addis ababa January 07/2018 Ethiopian Christians are celebrating Christmas, Gena, colourfully.

Since Ethiopia follows its own calendar, Christians in Ethiopia and globally celebrate on 7 January.  

Ethiopian Christmas known as Gena is one of the popular holidays and a peak festive season and fiesta aligned with best dishes.

The day is celebrated with amazing cultural dishes, clothes, traditional games and different religious activities.

The holiday marked after more than a 40-day fasting season mainly by Orthodox Christians.

The celebration of Gena that accompanied by a mass ceremony at churches in the eve, is uniquely marked in the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela.

In Lalibela the day is celebrated in a very peculiar and attractive ways as the day is the birthday of King Lalibela, who constructed the historic and mesmerizing churches.

Tourists from around the world and Orthodox Christians travelled to Lalibela to attend the unique ceremony.
