Regional Gov’ts Extend 30m Birr to Rehabilitate Displaced Citizens Featured

Addis Ababa November 1,2017 Some 30 million Birr was donated for the rehabilitation of citizens displaced due to conflicts between the administrative border of Oromia and Somali regional states, the Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) said.

The regional governments of Amhara, Tigray, and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) are the states that extended the assistance - each contributing 10 million Birr.

 State Minister of GCAO Firehiwot Ayalew told ENA that the assistance will be used to permanently rehabilitate the displaced through the National Disaster Risk Management Commission.

 The State Minister has lauded efforts of nations, nationalities, and peoples of Ethiopia in supporting the displaced people.

 Firehiwot added that the federal government will consolidate efforts in collaboration with elders, religious and tribal leaders for the fruitful completion of the rehabilitation process.

 Efforts to permanently rehabilitate the displaced people will be conducted following peace conferences that are expected to take place in areas where conflicts were occurred.
