Addis Ababa October 25/2017 Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority has urged government and private media to abide by the Constitution and the Broadcast Proclamation.
Briefing local journalists today, Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority General Manager Zeray Asgedom said all media outlets must report on the basis of the interest of the public and the Constitution.
The General Manager on the occasion warned media companies that broadcast unverifiable information to refrain from their actions and engage in the dissemination of constructive information.
According to him, all the media have not shown any significant improvement despite the warnings they have been given.
As the media are responsible to broadcast reliable news, they are expected to strictly refrain from reporting news that endangers the Constitution, Zeray added.
He stressed that the media should address government polices and strategies along with their achievements and shortcomings.
The General Manager disclosed that the authority plans to conduct training on crisis reporting for the media in cooperation with Addis Ababa University.
There are more than twenty government and private broadcast media in Ethiopia.
