Addis Ababa August 31, 2017 The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced today USD 91 million additional humanitarian assistance to Ethiopia.
Prime Minster Hailemariam Dessalegn held talks with Ambassador Mark Green, USAID Administrator, on the cooperation needed to boost development endeavors in Ethiopia.
Ambassador Green said the fund will be used to provide additional emergency food assistance and medical care.
According to the Administrator, the officials have discussed broad range of issues, including America’s commitment to stand with the people of Ethiopia.
“....Ethiopia will be a target country for the next phase of feed the future. We look forward to partnering with Ethiopia on feed the future venture," Green revealed.
He further said “I am proud of the Prime Minster for his government response to the 2015/16 drought.”
PM Hailemariam explained that Ethiopia has managed to cope with the drought and prevented it from becoming famine with its own resources.
In addition, the country is working in collaboration with the US on ways and means of consolidating trade and investment ties.
