Addis Ababa July 29, 2017 Ethiopia has prepared national voluntary service policy that would guide the practice and make voluntarism a culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sport announced.
In Ethiopia, participating in summer voluntary services has becoming common among the youth in various areas and brought significant progress.
It is in this context that the nation has decided to introduce a policy framework to guide the practice thereby increase number of volunteers and improve the achievements witnessed so far.
Matias Assefa, Director of Youth Mobilization at the Ministry told ENA that the framework will enable the nation mobilize volunteers effectively and recognize their contribution.
Among other things, the framework will enable volunteers get insured for injuries while giving service and provide with certificates that will be attached to their CVs.
The draft policy will be presented for the House of Peoples' Representatives after the Council of Ministers discussed it.
Over 10 million youth are volunteered across the sector in this summer season alone
