Ethiopia, Denmark Discuss Immigration, Refugee Issues Featured

Addis Ababa April 20, 2017 State Minister Foreign Affairs Hirut Zemene and Danish Minister for Immigration and Integration, Inger Stojberg, have held discussion about migration and refugee issues today.

The state minister briefed the Danish minister that Ethiopia hosts over 800,000 thousand refugees who fled from neighboring countries.

She explained that in an effort to implement its out-of-camp policy, Ethiopia has been giving technical and university level education to the refugee.

They also discussed the possibility of expanding job opportunities to refugees in Ethiopia, it was learned.

In addition, the officials have exchanged views on ways of cooperating in renewable energy as Denmark has rich experience in the sector.

Minister for immigration and Integration Stojberg said Denmark will enhance its partnership with Ethiopia.

Stojberg said she was very impressed by the big work the government of Ethiopia has been doing with respect to supporting refugee in camps in the northern part of the country.

The minster stated that her country is keen to work with Ethiopia in addressing the root causes of irregular migration.
