Addis Ababa January 11/2017 Women's Strategic Development Center begins operation with plans to ensure women's equal participation and benefit from development activities.
The Center targets uplifting women's status in the political and socio-economic spheres in the country.
Heralding the official launch of the Center, Minister of Women and Children, Demitu Hambisa said the Center carries an essential role of ensuring constitutionally granted rights of women.
According to the Minister, the Center will conduct relevant research to pinpoint gaps in the formulation and implementation of government policies.
She assured representatives of the Center on the support from her Ministry.
President of the Ethiopian Women's Federation Azeb Mesfin also said the Federation will extend support to the newly launched Center as it works towards the participation and benefit of women.
Founder and Director General of the Center, Ambassador Genet Zewdie on her part said the Center works to rectify erroneous attitudes towards women and ensure their benefit.
It will help respond to the development and democratic queries of women.
The Center will work in close partnership with governmental and non-governmental institutions working on similar themes.
