Addis Ababa April 14/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed will meet tomorrow 25,000 people drawn from all over the country in Addis Ababa, Government Communication Affairs Office Minister Negeri Lencho said.
Briefing the local media today, Negeri said the meeting is part of the recent activities of the PM who held discussions with the public in Jigjiga, Ambo, and Mekelle with the view to strengthening the unity of Ethiopians.
Abiy, who sworn in as PM recently, also met leaders of rival political parties, civic societies, and artists as part of the efforts towards reconciliation.
Communication Affairs Minister Negeri stressed that working closely with the people is crucial to ensure sustainable peace, unity, democracy, development and good governance in the country.
Senior officials from federal and regional states, women, youth, religious leaders, leaders of institutions of higher learning and scholars, representatives of the diplomatic community will attend the event organized under the theme: "Pledge to Love and Unity".
Meanwhile, responding to a question raised about the lifting of state of emergency, Negeri said the issue is in the hands of the public, not the government or the parliament.
According to him, there would be no need of state of emergency if the people all over the country ensure peace and stability of the country.
