Addis Ababa February 8, 2018 The 120th year of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Ethiopia and Russia will be commemorated both in Addis Ababa and Moscow, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Briefing the local media today about the events that will take place upon the commemoration, MoFA Spokesperson Meles Alem said a committee drawn from both Ethiopian and Russian Foreign Affairs ministries were established to successfully celebrate the day.
According to him, the Ethiopian Embassy, Ethio-Russia People Friendship Association, the Russian Foreign Ministry and other stakeholders will commemorate the event in Moscow.
Similarly, the Russian Federation, the Institute of African Studies, the Peoples Friendship University of Russia, and Ethio-Russian People Friendship Association will celebrate the day in Ethiopia.
Meles added that a scientific conference that aims to evaluate the overall aspects of official diplomatic relation between the two countries will also take place at the Peoples Friendship University of Russia.
The aim of the conference is to discuss the progress of political, economic ties and cultural education exchanges that have been achieved through the diplomatic relations, he stated.
The Spokesperson pointed out that the challenges that are facing the strong relationship and their possible resolution will be covered in the scientific conference.
