US Says Ethiopia Can Serve as Engine of Economic Growth, Stability in Africa Featured

Addis Ababa December 07/2017 Ethiopia can serve as engine of economic growth and stability in the continent, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Donald Yamamoto said.

Following his discussion with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State said “we came here to talk to the Prime Minister about how we can work together”.

Yamamoto added that “Ethiopia can serve as engine of economic growth and stability in the region and the continent.”

Ethiopia and the US have three major cooperation areas, namely economic cooperation, human rights, defense and security affairs.

Media and Public Relations Delivery Unit Head at the Prime Minister's Office, Zadig Abraha disclosed that Ethiopia and USA have agreed today to boost bilateral cooperation in the three areas and work closely in stabilizing the Horn of Africa.

They will in particular exert efforts to bring peace to South Sudan and Somalia, he pointed out.

Diplomatic relation between Ethiopia and the US was established in 1903.
