Officials, Heads of Ethiopian Missions Discussing Performance on Diplomacy Featured

Hawassa Sptember 04/2017 High-level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and heads of Ethiopian missions overseas are discussing on last year’s performance of the country in the diplomatic frontier.

While opening the meeting, Foreign Minister Workneh Gebeyehu said that diplomatic activities carried out over the last Ethiopian fiscal year were successful.

He noted that the work done in the political diplomacy has contributed a lot to the economic growth of the country.

In addition to using diplomacy to enhance development, the country has been applying diplomacy to foster good neighbor relations.                                                                                                         

In this regard, Ethiopia is considered as one of the nations in the forefront in conducting extensive diplomacy, he added. 

This diplomacy has enabled Ethiopia to maintain strong and peaceful relationship with neighboring countries and contribute to initiatives that aimed to bring peace in Somalia and South Sudan, he said.
Ministry Spokesperson, Meles Alem told ENA that Ethiopia has maintained the strong bilateral and multilateral relationship with governments and international organizations even during the emergency ruling.

According to him, this success displays the effectiveness of Ethiopia’s diplomacy.

Noting that economic diplomacy is at the center of Ethiopia’s foreign relations, Meles said fruitful activities were done in this regard.

Ethiopian missions abroad have been working to lure more foreign direct investment and tourists, create market linkage and enhance technology transfer.

The annual meeting which is being held in the town of Hawassa, which lasts for five days, is expected to thoroughly discuss last year's performance and the 2010 fiscal year plan of the country.
