Addis Ababa January 06/2018 The expansion of Bole International Airport will be completed at the end of this year, according to Ethiopian Airlines.
The civil work of the project, which has been carried out for the past three year with 350 million USD, is completed.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, TewoldeGebremariam told ENA that the project resting on 74,000 square meters will have technology that enables it to provide modern services and make the passenger traffic flow smoothly.
The present airport, which was designed to serve five million passengers in a year, has been forced to handle nine million, it was learned.
The CEO revealed that the completion of the new terminal will boost the figure much higher to about 22 million passengers in a year.
Upon completion of the project, Bole International Airport is going to be the leading airport in Africa in terms of accommodating many passengers. The Oliver Tambo Airport of South Africa is leading the continent by 20 million at present.
According to Tewolde, DembiDollo, BaleGoba, Shire, and Jinka airports that are under construction will be completed within the coming six months.
