Ethiopia’s Inflation Rises to 10.4 pct Year-on-year in August Featured

Addis Ababa September 04/2017 Ethiopia’s year-on-year inflation rose to 10.4 percent in August from the 9.4 percent in July, due to higher food prices, the Central Statistics Agency said.

Food inflation rose to 13.3 percent from 12.5 percent in the previous month, trigger by increase in prices of cereals, the agency said.

Non-food inflation was also rose to 7.1 percent in August from the 5.9 percent in July, mainly due to rise in the prices of chat, clothing and footwear, housing and energy, and household goods and furnishings.
