Amhara April 21/2017 Cornerstone was laid for the construction of a cement factory to be built in the State of Amhara.
The plant to be built by Abay Industrial Development S.C is expected to produce 5,000 tons of cement per day.
The factory in which its construction will be completed within four years and four months will consume 7.5 billion Birr.
The plant will be built on 250 hectares of land near Dejen town. It will create employment opportunities for 1,690 persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Administrator of the State of Amhara, Gedu Andargatchew said the establishment of such plants would enable to bring structural change in the country.
The raw material for the production of cement is to be secured from 3,600 hectares of land close to the Abay Gorge.
High-level federal and regional government officials have attended the cornerstone laying ceremony held on Thursday.
