Addis Ababa February 17/2017 A national consultative forum, which prepares Ethiopia for the voluntary review at the meeting of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to be held in July 2017, has opened today.
National Planning Commissioner, Dr. Yinager Dassie, said on the occasion Ethiopia is among the forty countries that have expressed willingness to get their Sustainable Development Goals reviewed at the forum.
Ethiopia has been implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2015, it was learned.
According to Dr. Yinager, the National Planning Commission is preparing a performance report by involving the youth, civil society, women, political parties as well as other stakeholders.
The consultative meeting underway is aimed at gathering all stakeholders in regions and city administrations to collect inputs for the preparation of the report.
It also aims to discuss ways of utilizing geo-spatial and statistical data in developing the report, he added.
Meanwhile, the participants of the forum will confer on the Population and Housing Census to be held in October 2017, it was indicated.
The participants of the two-day consultative forum are National Planning Commission, Central Statistical Agency and Ethiopian Mapping Agency.
The High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is United Nations central platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals adopted at the UN sustainable development summit on September 2015.
