Addis Ababa July 04/2017 Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn Tuesday discussed with South Sudanese First Vice-President, Taban Deng Gai and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir on bilateral and issues of common interest.

The discussion with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia was focused on bilateral ties and the issue of undocumented Ethiopians residing in that country. 

After the discussion, Hailmariam told reporters that Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia have strong partnership which would be further strengthened.

The Premier thanked Saudi Arabia for extending the amnesty period by 30 days to enable undocumented nationals leave the Kingdom without penalties.

The two countries have recently signed labor exchange agreement.

Regarding his discussion with South Sudanese First Vice-President, Taban Deng Gai, Hailemariam said Ethiopia will continue to work for stability of that country under the IGAD framework.

The Premier urged the opposition leaders to continue implement the ceasefire agreement in addition to the national dialogue.

Ethiopia, Ghana to Deepen Economic Ties

Addis Ababa July 04/2017 Ethiopia and Ghana have discussed about ways of strengthening their economic ties.

President Mulatu Teshome and Ghanaian Nana Akufo-Addo conferred today on ways of consolidating their bilateral relations in general and their economic cooperation in particular.

President Nana Akufo told journalists that the strong and longstanding relation of the two countries needs to be consolidated in the economic spheres as well.

He further recalled that Kwame Nkrumah and Emperor Hailesellasie have made great contribution for the establishment of the Organization of African Unity and to the struggle against colonialism.

The presidents also discussed about how the various agreements signed by the respective countries could be realized.

Ethiopia and Ghana are committed to implementing those agreements signed on air transport, trade and investment, among others, it was indicated.

Diplomatic relations between Ghana and Ethiopia date back to 1959.

Addis Ababa July 04/2017 Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn held talks today with leaders of Palestine and Sudan on bilateral cooperation and regional issues as well as strengthening cooperation.

During his talks with Palestinian President Abbas, Prime Minister Hailemariam said Ethiopia will provide support for the peaceful resolution of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

President Abbas said on his part Palestine has the desire to further strengthen the long and historic relations between the two states. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Sudanese Vice President Hassabu M. Abdalrahman have agreed to strengthen their efforts for the realization of regional peace and the joint forums on Nile River.
