Addis Ababa May 06/2013 Ensuring inclusive growth is desirable whereby people from all walks of life participate in economic life and benefit from the development outcomes, Finance and Economic State Minister Dr. Abraham Tekeste said.
Addressing an Experts' Group Meeting on Inclusive Growth in Africa is being held here from 6-7 May 2013 Dr. Abraham said Ethiopia has policies recognizing the significance of rapid, broad-based and sustained economic growth to eradicate poverty.
He said the medium term development plan, the Growth and Transformation Plan, which runs between 2011 and 2015 clearly stipulate this strategy.
The plan aims to achieve double digit economic growth during the planning period, the State Minister said.
The Meeting is organized in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Korean Development Institute (KDI) and the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI).
KDI Managing Director, Sanghoon Ahn on the occasion said that Korea managed to benefit from inclusion through making its trade accessible to the global market, industrial transformation and formulating best experiences.
Participants of the meeting working on issues related to Africa's development agenda on their parts reflected inclusive growth along side with education, social protection, regional integration, trade and governance.
The two-day meeting is expected to enrich and deepen understanding of country experiences with inclusive growth and the policy toolkit necessary to foster it.
