Addis Ababa April 27/2013 Construction and renovation of over 7800km roads was carried out in different parts of the country during the last nine months, the Ethiopian Roads Construction Corporation said.
The Corporation told ENA over the weekend that 261km of the stated road is newly constructed. The achievement is 81 per cent of the set target to construct 322km roads during the reported period.
It also said that it has accomplished 99 per cent of its plan through renovating 7572km roads.
Over 232km of the total 326km linking roads being constructed in the areas of Pawe-Fendeka, Jinka-Hana-Omo and Maytemen-Maygeba sugar development projects is completed.
The corporation said implementation of ten asphalt roads projects is underway at a cost of over 5.8 billion Birr.
The projects include the Sheko-Kebredehar, Kebredehar-Denen and Denen-Gode in Somali regional state and also Wezeka-Gidole in South Ethiopia Peoples' State.
Construction of Gambella-Itang-Jikawo road in Gambella State will be finalized in the current Ethiopian year.
