Goba March 23/2013 onstruction of 47km rural road is underway in Golelcha Woreda, Bale Zone of Oromia State with over 17 million Birr through the Universal Rural Road Access Project (URRAP), the woreda roads office said.
Office Head, Alemayehu Tola told ENA that the road interconnects eight rural localities with main road.
Alemayehu said construction of the road created 500 temporary jobs.
So far construction of 36km of the road is finalized, he said, adding, the road will benefit close to 35,000 residents when it becomes fully operational at the end of the current Ethiopian budget year.
Some 30km rural road constructed in the woreda through the program last year is giving service to the public.
URRAP is part of the Growth and Transformation Plan designed to construct roads interconnecting all rural localities in the country.
