Adama March 21/2013 The 7th regular meeting of the Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organization (OPDO) was concluded after re-electing Alemayehu Atomsa and Muktar Kedir as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Organization respectively.
The meeting also elected 15 members for executive committee and 81 central committee members.
The number of central committee members is increased to 81 from the previous 65 taking into consideration the total area of the region and the duty that should be accomplished.
The meeting has given due emphasis to ensure the benefits of the public through giving prime attention to agriculture development, natural resource conservation, education, safe water provision and irrigation development.
Maintaining good governance and building democracy, among others, are also part of the focus areas.
