Zone harvests over 14.7 mln. quintals output

  Debrebirhan March 21/2013 More than 328,000 farmers harvested over 14.7 million quintals output in North Shoa Zone of Amhara State during 2004/05EC crop season, the zonal agriculture department said. Crop development expert with the department Simegn Haile told ENA that the stated amount of output was collected from 520,919 hectares land. The amount exceeded by over 690 quintals that of the set target while surpassed by more than six per cent compared with the amount harvested same period in the previous year. The evenly distribution of rains during the main rainy season as well as support of development agents contributed to the growth in the amount, she said. The expert said over 318,000 quintals artificial fertilizer, more than two million cubic meters compost and over 87,000 quintals select seed was supplied to the farmers.
