Mekele March 21/2013 Participants of the 11th meeting of the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front TPLF/EPRDF stressed the need for succession of the leadership.
They said the succession process is underway to renew the TPLF leadership by the new generation.
Accordingly, veteran leaders of the TPLF/EPRDF, Ambassador Seyoum Mesfin, Ambassador Berhane Gebrekirstos, Arkebe Equbay and Zeray Asgedom have resigned and will be replaced by new members in the TPLF Central Committee as part of the succession process launched two years ago.
Contribution of the veterans towards success of the TPLF/EPRDF was immense.
Ambassador Seyoum on the occasion said TPLF/EPRDF had conducted study on the significance of succession of the leadership.
He said there are millions on side of the TPLF/EPRDF and the succession process is being carried out through building capacity of youth. In this regard a number of youth are created to replace the old leadership.
He said though he resigns from the leadership, he will continue as member of the TPLF/EPRDF until the end of his life.
Other members of the TPLF Central Committee Hish Lemma, Messeret Gebremariam, Mengisteab Gebrekidan, Desta Bezabih and Negusse Gebre were also replaced by new members.
