Dilla March 17/2013 Construction and renovation of over 700km roads is underway in three zones of South Ethiopia Peoples' State with over 42 million Birr, Dilla district office of the regional roads authority said.
Office Head, Yohannes Dukele told ENA over the weekend that 200km of the stated roads is newly constructed.
Yohannes said over 19 million Birr of the total sum will be used for construction of the new road.
He said the balance will to for renovation of the remaining roads.
Zonal Chief, Abebayehu Tadesse on his part said road construction is one of the development plans designed to achieve the Growth and Transformation plan of the government.
Abebayehu said construction of over 116km roads launched last year through the Universal Rural Road Access Project (URRAP) has been finalized.
Some residents on their parts said the roads will help them to supply their products easily to market.
URRAP is part of the Growth and Transformation Plan designed to construct roads interconnecting all rural localities in the country.
