Bahir Dar March 12/2013 Construction of 1,650 clean water facilities is being undertaken in West Gojjam Zone of Amhara State at a cost of more than 33.6 million Birr, the zonal water resource department said.
Department Head, Kinde Alebachew told ENA that the construction of the facilities is underway in 13 woredas and five urban areas in the zone.
He said the facilities include sinking of water wells and development of springs, among others.
Up on going fully operational at the end of in the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the facilities are expected to benefit 138,000 residents.
The cost for construction of the facilities is covered by the government, donors and the public, he said.
