Wolkite March 10/2013 Various development projects constructed in Geta Woreda of Gurage Zone in South Ethiopia Peoples' State with nearly 17 million Birr were inaugurated on Saturday.
The projects include, among others, secondary and preparatory schools, safe water facilities and roads.
State Chief Shiferaw Shigute on the occasion said the regional government provides the necessary support to development activities in the state.
Shiferaw said safe water projects are being constructed in all areas of the state with close to one billion Birr as part of the efforts to speed up development.
Urban Development and Construction Minister, Mekuria Haile on his part stressed the need to further strengthen integrated basin development being carried out in the zone.
Mekuria also called on the public in particular farmers to contribute in the fight against poverty.
Woreda Chief, Gebrehiwot Gebrekidan also said active participation of the public helped to register development in the area.
