Addis Ababa March 08/2013 Israel is striving to further boost existing bilateral ties with Ethiopia, Embassy of Israel to Ethiopia said.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, Ambassador Belaynesh Zevadia said the cooperation between the two countries has been growing in particular in the trade sector.
She said the trade exchange between the two countries has reached half a billion dollars over the past seven years.
In 2011 the trade exchange has reached more than 83 million dollars, though the trade balance is in favor of Israel.
According to her, Israel has exported more than 66 million dollars worth construction materials, power transmission cables and tires, among others, to Ethiopia.
Ethiopia also exported sesame, coffee and oil seeds to Israel during the reported period.
She said her country is working to enable Israeli investors engage in development activities Ethiopia.
Israel has also been providing scholarships to Ethiopian scholars, she said.
The Ethiopian-born Ambassador Belaynesh Zevadia was born in Azezo area, In Gondar, Amhara State.
