Nation prepares draft human rights action plan

  Addis Ababa March 05 /2013 The country prepared a draft human rights action plan enabling to increase the applicability of the human and democratic rights enshrined in the supreme law of the land. Justice Minister Berhan Hailu told ENA that applicability of the action plan, the first of its kind, will bring together all separate efforts being exerted to ensure the human and democratic rights stated in the constitution. Berhan said it will also enable the nation to conduct human rights protection and promotion of human and democratic rights activities in an organized manner. The action plan will serve as the nation’s tool to protect and promote human and democratic rights of citizens. Commissioner of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, Ambassador Tiruneh Zena on his part said preparation of the new document indicates commitment of the government to protect human and democratic rights of citizens. The action plan will be implemented following approval by the House of Peoples Representatives.
