House calls on Britain to strengthen support to Ethiopia

  Addis Ababa March 04/2013 Speaker of the House of Peoples' Representatives Abadula Gemeda called on Britain to further strengthen ongoing support to Ethiopia. While discussing with members of a British Parliamentary delegation here Monday Abadula said support of Britain is significant towards success of Ethiopia's ongoing efforts to reduce poverty. He said currently the country is undertaking activities to improve health and education services as well as maintain good governance and build democracy, among others. The Speaker said Britain is one of the countries providing support to Ethiopia and the parliament is monitoring that the support is used for the intended purpose. The country has registered encouraging results in building educational facilities, creating health professionals and building democratic system, Abadula said, adding, efforts are underway to ensure the quality of education. Members of the delegation on their parts said that they witnessed improvement registered in various sectors in particular in construction of educational and health facilities in Ethiopia. They said the country needs to give prime attention to distribution of quality education to all and build a democratic system.
