Bahir Dar March 04/2013 Close to 290,000 people are protected from malaria following spraying of anti-mosquito chemicals on nearly 102,000 residential houses in Awi Zone, Amhara State, the zonal health department said.
Department Head, Wudneh Geremew said 8700kg chemicals were sprayed on the stated number of houses in 71 localities of the zone.
He said spraying of the chemicals helped to control malaria in the area.
Some residents on their parts lauded efforts of the government to prevent malaria.
