Bahir Dar February 25/2013 More than 199,570 persons have benefited Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) service in West Gojjam Zone, Amhara State during the last six months, the zonal HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Coordination Office said.
Office representative, Wassie Dessie told ENA that the achievement surpasses by over 87,100 that of the set target for the reported period.
The plan was to enable more than 284,880 people get access to the service during the current Ethiopian budget year.
The number of beneficiaries from VCT service is increasing from time to time .
Raised awareness on part of the public on HIV/AIDS prevention and control contributed to the growth in the number.
Wassie also said the number of people infected with the virus is decreasing from time to time due to awareness raising and other activities being undertaken in the zone.
