Nekempt February 25/2013 Farmers in Horo Guduru Wollega Zone, Oromia State have secured more than 35 million Birr income from sale of honey over the first six months of this fiscal year, the Zonal Animal Resource Development Office said.
Office Head, Baysa Lemu told ENA over the weekend that the farmers secured the stated sum from sale of more than 796,800kg honey.
He said more than 9,000 farmers are engaged in apiculture in the zone.
The farmers on their parts said that they have managed to improve their livelihoods through engaging in beekeeping.
