Bahir Dar February 21/2013 The Bahirdar Branch Office of the Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority said it has intercepted contraband goods valued at 27 million Birr during the first six months of this fiscal year.
The Office told ENA that live animals, traditional clothes and food items worth more than 17 million Birr were seized while being transported out of the country.
It said second hand clothes, electronics materials, detergents and weapons valued at nine million Birr were intercepted while illegally transported to the country via Metema Town.
According to the office, tip-off from the public contributed share to enable the Office to intercept the goods.
