Hawassa Februaary 19/2013 More than 97 million Birr revenue was secured from tourism in South Ethiopia People's State during the first six months of this fiscal year, the State Culture and Tourism Bureau said.
Public Relation Expert with the Bureau, Seblework Abebe told ENA on Monday that the stated sum was obtained from more than 348,700 tourists, who visited various natural and historical sites as well as national parks in the state.
She said the revenue surpasses by 32 million Birr that of same period in the previous year.
Awareness raising campaigns and activities undertaken to promote the sites, infrastructure development, among others, contributed for the increase in the revenue.
