Addis Ababa February 17/2013 Ethiopia has envisaged to harvest 229 million quintals output in the 2004/05EC crop season, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Ministry's Public Relation Head, Tarekegn Tsige told ENA over the weekend that the set target exceeds by 11 million quintals that of the 2003/04EC production year.
He said 12.27 million hectares land has been covered with various seeds during the reported period.
According to him, the area covered with seeds surpasses that of the 2003/04EC by 1.5 percent.
He said raised awareness among farmers on utilization and benefit of agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and select seeds contributed to the success.
According to him, the increase in number of farmers engaging in irrigation development also contributed to the increase.
