Adama February 17/2013 Prime attention is given to enabling more than four million pastoralists in Oromia State benefit from development activities, the State Pastoral Area Development Commission said.
Commissioner Boru Godana said at a relevant forum in Adama Town of the State on Saturday that construction of irrigation projects is well in progress with 500 million Birr to engage pastoralists in irrigation development.
Boru said commendable activities are underway in the efforts to address safe water shortage and engage pastoralists in farming side by side with animal husbandry.
He said efforts being exerted by the government to increase revenue from animal resource are successful.
Head of the state agriculture bureau, Zelalem Jemaneh on his part said various activities are underway in the state including construction of veterinary health college, safe water facilities and roads, among others, to enable the country benefit from animal resource and thereby ensure the benefit of pastoralists.
