Over 481,370 school age children benefit from education service

  Hawassa February 17/2013 More than More than 481,370 school age children have got access to primary level education service in South Ethiopia People's State in the current academic year, the regional education bureau said. Bureau Head, Mohammed Ahmedin said over 206,700 of the stated number of children are girls. Mohammed said the children are attending classes at more than 5000 primary schools. He said new primary schools were built and equipped with the necessary materials with over 290 million Birr to improve the learning/teaching process in the state. More than 4.1 million students are attending classes in the state at present in the efforts to achieve the MDGs in the education sector Some farmers in Hawassa Zuria Woreda of the State said integrated activities of the public and the government to construct and expand educational facilities helped children get access to education service near their villages.
