Addis Ababa February 10/2013 The Ethiopian Grain Trade Enterprise said it has distributed over 3.2 million quintals wheat among flour mills, consumers' associations, hospitals and public institutions in its efforts to stabilize market during the last six months.
Enterprise General Manager, Berhane Hailu told ENA that 86 per cent of the stated amount of wheat was distributed among flour mills, 13 per cent among consumers' associations and the remaining among hospitals and public institutions.
Tha manager said imported wheat significantly contributes to stabilize market and reduce inflation rate to one digit.
He said the government has given prime attention to stabilizing grain market, he said, adding, it has imported and distributed five million quintals wheat during the last couple of years.
Measures taken by the government to stabilize grain market during the last five years were successful.
Some 850,000 quintals wheat will be imported and distributed among beneficiaries during the coming two weeks, Berhane said.
