Hawassa February 08/2013 Over 1.2 billion Birr revenue was collected in South Ethiopia Peoples' State during the last six months, the regional revenue authority said.
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Work Process Representative with the Authority, Mesfin Moges told ENA on Friday that the amount exceeds by 318 million Birr that of same period last year.
Mesfin said the growth in the revenue resulted from implementation of efficient tax collection system and tax reform program.
He said the amount was collected from direct and indirect tax as well as municipality services.
The authority is working to further increase accessibility and expand modern tax collection system, he said.
