Assela February 05/2013 Some 56 villages in 24 woredas of Arssi Zone, Oromia State will benefit from solar energy service in the current Ethiopian year through the Rural Electrification Program of the country, the zonal water, mines and energy development office said.
Office Deputy Head, Getachew Abebe told ENA Tuesday that efforts are underway to enable residential houses, schools and health institutions benefit from solar power.
The program is being implemented by the government and SNV, a Netherlands development organization.
Getachew said biogas stoves will be distributed among the public to minimize forest depletion.
More than 77,590 biogas stoves are being distributed among the public in rural areas this year alone, he said.
