chiro February 03/2013 Safe water project is being carried out in Chiro Town, West Hararge Zone of Oromia State with over 70 million Birr, the town water and sewerage service office said.
Office Head, Gizaw Abebe told ENA on Sunday that the project is being undertaken with the financial support secured from the World Bank.
Gizaw said the project includes, among others, installation of 52km water pipelines, construction of two water reservoirs and digging of five water wells.
Each reservoir has capacity to hold over 1000 cubic meters water.
More than 74,450 residents will benefit from the project, which will raise safe water service coverage to 99 per cent from the present 55 per cent in the town.
Two of the residents of the town, Kelifa Beker and Almaz Mekonnen on their parts lauded ongoing efforts of the government to curb safe water shortage.
