Goba February 2/2013 More than 1000 pastoralists engaged in apiary in Harena Buluk Woreda, Bale Zone of Oromia State secured over 2.1 million Birr income from sale of more than 35,600km honey, the woreda pastoralist community development office said.
Office Head, Ashenafi Hailu told ENA that the pastoralists utilized over 4400 bee hives to produce the honey.
Ashenafi said the amount surpassed by 10,000kg that of in the previous year.
Pastoralists engaged in similar activity had earned over 1.2 million Birr from sale of 25,000kg honey last year in the woreda, he said.
