Debre Brhan January 31/2013 More than 136.8 million Birr revenue is collected in North Shoa Zone, Amhara region during the last six months, the Zonal Revenue Office announced.
Office Revenue Collection and Monitoring Chief Coordinator, Hailegebriel Hirute said Thursday that the revenue is collected from direct and indirect taxes.
The revenue exceeds that of same period last year by 39.2 million Birr.
There is plan to collect a total of 227 million Birr in the current Ethiopian year.
He said the increase in the number of tax payers, and raised awareness on part of tax payers are among the factors for the growth in the revenue.
Hailegebriel also said that activities are underway to control illegal trade and to protect the rights and benefits of tax payers in the region.
