Adama January 29/2013 Government employees at West Shoa Zone of Oromia State vowed to buy bond worth over two million Birr for the second time for construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the zonal government communication affairs office said.
The employees vowed to buy the bond after holding discussion on the same issue and said that they will strive to achieve the vision of the late PM Meles Zenawi.
Zonal Chief and Dam construction coordinator, Lechisa Hayu on the occasion stressed the need for the community to actively participate in the construction of the Dam.
Zonal government communication affairs office head and secretary of zonal Dam construction council , Tesfaye Jale on his part said that the public in 19 woredas and one urban administration bought over 25 million Birr worth bond for the same purpose during the last six months.
The Dam being constructed in Guba Woreda of Benishangul Gumuz State will have capacity to generate 6000MW electric power.
The late PM Meles laid foundation stone for the Dam in March of 2011. The Dam will be Africa's largest hydroelectric plant.
