Hawassa January 29/2013 Five investors with over 14 million Birr combined capital have engaged in different activities in Sidama Zone, South Ethiopia Peoples' State during the last six months, the zonal trade, industry department said.
Investment Promotion Main Work Process Coordinator with the Department, Berhanu Woldemichael told ENA the investment projects are in the areas of agriculture, industry and social service, among others.
The projects have created more than 980 permanent and temporary jobs.
Similar projects launched in some urban areas in the zone last year had created over 5000 jobs.
The coordinator said the department has so far provided more than 600 hectares rural land to investors engaged in agriculture, social service and industry sectors.
Two of the investors, Berhanu Admassu and Abate Argiso on their parts lauded support of the government to expand investment.
Some 45 investors with more than 267 million Birr aggregate capital had engaged in various sectors in the previous budget year.
