Goba January 26/2013 More than 94 million Birr revenue is collected in the Bale Zone, Oromia State in the second quarter of the current Ethiopian budget year, the zonal revenue office said.
Tax Collection and Monitoring Expert in the Office Hassna Biftu told ENA on Saturday that the revenue is collected from regular and municipal income titles.
The expert said the amount exceeds by over 20 million Birr that of the first quarter of the budget year.
The growth in the revenue resulted from an increase in the number of value added tax payers.
She said there are more than 12,000 tax payers in the zone of which 495 are value added tax payers.
Activities are underway to collect over 197 million Birr revenue during the budget year. A total of over 158 million Birr was collected during the previous budget year.
The zone is striving to collect about 311 million Birr annually in the zone, she said.
