Hawassa January 25/2013 The Hawassa Town Branch Office of the Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority in South Ethiopia Peoples' State said it has intercepted contraband goods worth over 29 million Birr over the past six months.
Office General Manager, Yared Fekade told ENA that goods including new and second hand cloths, electronics goods, medicines, edible oil and food items were seized at four check points in the State.
Yared said a joint committee set up to control illegal trade helped to reduce smuggling of goods.
