Addis Ababa January 23/2013 The emergency food reserve of Ethiopia has reached 460,000 metric ton, the Emergency Food Security Reserve Administration said.
In a press conference he gave here on Wednesday in connection with the six months performance of the Administration, Acting Public Relation Head, Gizaw Abute said that the reserve will feed six million people for six months.
According to him, 50,000 metric ton food had been added into the reserve during the past six months.
The Administration has set plan to build 200 new warehouses with a view to raising its emergency food reserve to three million metric ton, which will feed 20 million people for a year.
So far, the Administration has 67 warehouses in seven branches, he said.
Gizaw said the Administration has provided 107,000 metric ton food in loan to the Ministry of Agriculture , the Grain Trade Enterprise and the World Food Program.
