ADDIS ABABA January 21/2013 An elementary school constructed in Gozamin Woreda, East Gojjam Zone of Amhara State with 107,000 USD was inaugurated over the weekend.
According to a press release the Japanese Embassy in Ethiopia sent to ENA on Monday, the school has eight classrooms.
The necessary educational materials are also fulfilled for the school while 15 existing classrooms and 265 desks were renovated.
Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Hiroyuki KISHINO on the occasion said that the school would serve the local interests for many years to come.
Construction of the school was funded by the Japanese Grant-in-aid Scheme for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The GGP scheme was first introduced in 1989, and thus it has a history of about 24 years to date.
Since 1997, over 300 projects have been implemented in Ethiopia under the GGP, according to the release.
