Construction of 18.5km gravel road well in progress

  Maichew January 20/2013 Construction of 18.5km gravel road launched in Raya Alamata Woreda, Southern Tigray Zone at a cost of over eight million Birr budget is well in progress, the woreda construction, roads and transport office said. Office Head, Etenesh Belachew told ENA over the weekend that the all-weather road links Alamata Town with a rural locality called Soriya. Etenesh said the road will be open to traffic after a month. More than 15,000 residents will benefit from the road being constructed in collaboration with the government and the public, she said. Some residents of Soriya rural locality, Hailu Mulat, Molla Kebede and Tigabu Meressa on their parts said the road will significantly contribute to socio-economic development in the area.
